Reefs for Life is restoring coral reefs and empowering local communities to protect them

 Moving the project

We want to thank you for your contribution to Reefs for Life last year at our online fundraiser. A lot has happened since then, and we wanted to inform you about our new plans. The funds that we raised during the fundraiser were for the project in Cabacongan. We have since decided that the coral restoration part of the budget should be allocated to the neighboring town of Pandanan. Pandanan will provide a safe and secure place for the coral restoration project, and it is close enough that the community of Cabacongan will still benefit from the increased biodiversity and fish that the project will produce. Since this is a change from what we said during the fund raiser last year, we wanted to touch base with you. If you would like more information on how and why our plans changed, please feel free to reach out to us through email at: bryan@reefsforlife.org .

We were so encouraged by your support, and we have been able to make a big difference in the community of Cabacongan. Your contribution has changed the way people think about the environment, and has transformed this community so that they will live more sustainably with the environment for generations to come. We look forward to seeing and reporting to you the benefits that the people will see as they are able to catch more fish and rise out of poverty.

We are also excited to start the coral restoration project in Pandanan. The people are ready to get started as they take more ownership of their natural resources and start protecting this amazing place from the illegal fishing that has caused so much damage to the environment and their way of life. Reefs for Life continues to advocate for the people and empower them to repair the damage that has been done and provide a new hope for their future. Thank you for being a part of the work!
